Databases
Managed MySQL clusters, without hand-built replication
Create a MySQL database cluster from the panel or API and manage its users, settings and size in one place. MySQL is the only engine supported today. Available in VPSie public cloud and on private cloud installations.
What you get
Clusters, not single servers
Choose the node count when you create a cluster, then add or remove nodes as load changes.
Users and privileges
Create, update and drop database accounts and give each one the privilege categories it needs.
Tune MySQL settings
Save configuration values such as max_connections, max_allowed_packet and thread_cache_size for a cluster.
TLS certificates
Download the TLS certificate bundle for a database node so applications connect over an encrypted link.
Move to a bigger plan
List the plans a cluster can upgrade to and move it when it needs more resources.
Statistics per node
Read resource statistics for each database node from the panel or API.
How it works
- Pick a location and planChoose a datacenter where managed databases are enabled and a database plan.
- Create the clusterName the cluster, set the node count and assign it to a project.
- Add users and connectCreate database accounts with the privileges they need, download the TLS certificate and point your application at the cluster.
Where it fits
Application backends
Give web and mobile applications a MySQL cluster instead of a single database server you maintain yourself.
Per-application accounts
Create a separate database user for each service with only the privileges it needs.
Databases on your own hardware
Run the same managed MySQL clusters inside a VPSie private cloud in your data center.
At a glance
| Engine | MySQL (the only engine supported today) |
|---|---|
| Scaling | Add or remove nodes; upgrade to a larger plan |
| Access | Database users with privilege categories; password reset |
| Encryption in transit | Downloadable TLS certificate bundle per node |
| Availability | Public cloud datacenters where managed databases are enabled, and private cloud |

Automate it with the API
Create clusters, manage users and tune settings with the same REST API the panel uses.
Read the Managed DB API referenceGET /apps/v2/managed/db/datacenter POST /apps/v2/managed/db/create/cluster {dcIdentifier, dbType: "mysql", name, nodeCount, planId} POST /apps/v2/managed/db/create/user {clusterId, userName, userPassword, privilegeGrant} POST /apps/v2/managed/db/config {clusterId, configurationVars} GET /apps/v2/managed-db/certificates/download/{mdbidentifier} POST /apps/v2/managed/db/cluster/byId/{clusterIdentifier}/add
Questions
More answers in the FAQ and the knowledge base.
Which database engines are supported?
MySQL only. Other engines are not available today.
Can I change MySQL settings?
Yes. You can save configuration values such as max_connections and max_allowed_packet for a cluster from the panel or API.
How do applications connect securely?
Download the TLS certificate bundle for the database node and configure your client to use it.
Can I scale a cluster?
Yes. Add or remove nodes, or upgrade the cluster to a larger plan.
Is it available in every region?
Managed databases are offered in datacenters where the feature is enabled. The panel and GET /managed/db/datacenter show the current list.
