In this tutorial, we will show you how to deploy Zabbix on VPSie platform. Zabbix is the ultimate enterprise-level software designed for real-time monitoring of millions of metrics collected from tens of thousands of servers, virtual machines, and network devices. Zabbix is Open Source and comes at no cost.
In order to deploy Zabbix, you would need to have an account on VPSie and have enough credit on your account so that you can deploy the selected package. Assuming that all those requirements are set first you will have to select the package which you will be using to deploy the Zabbix on. We will be using the A0 package in our case.
Next step you will be selecting the datacenter where you would like to deploy Zabbix to:
Then select the networking option you would like to use to use on your Zabbix servers.
(Note: it’s safer that Zabbix would talk to your vpsies on private networking whenever it’s possible).
Then click on the app tab in the Select Operating System option and select Zabbix from the list of applications available on VPSie:
Finally, give your VPSie a hostname (preferable a FQDN) and click the Create VPSie button on the bottom:
When the VPSie is deployed head to the DNS section and click the Add domain button. Fill the form with the domain you want to use and select the newly created VPSie from the dropdown list, then click Add Domain button:
When the domain is added click on the Edit domain button and create or edit the A record to match the FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) you have set as the hostname of your VPSie then click on the Update button on the bottom:
Ones that is set, open the browser
and point it to the FQDN or IP address assigned to your Zabbix VPSie to move forward with the setup of your Zabbix and click next on the first page:
Check that all Pre-requisites are meet on the next page and click the next button:
By now you should have got the e-mail with the information about your new installation:
Use the information from the e-mail to complete the form with the database user and database password
on the Zabbix installation screen:
Give a name to your Zabbix server (usually your FQDN) then click the Next button to continue:
Check that all the details are correct and then click on the Next button:
If all went well click on the Finish button and you will be forwarded to the Zabbix login page:
The default credentials for a new Zabbix installation are username
and as password
After you have logged in you will be forwarded to the Zabbix dashboard:
When done head back to the Dashboard and you can see that the warning has cleared out. By now the server has gathered some information and it started creating the default graphs. You can watch them by clicking on the Graphs link then on Host dropdown you select the Zabbix server and then you can select the desired graphs you want to see.
Your Zabbix server is installed and configured so that you can start adding your hosts to be monitored. It is highly recommended to change the password of your admin account, or disable it completely and add users with different levels of permissions.
